About Us

Our Mission

Tunxis Community College Foundation raises funds to provide support for the students, programs and services of the College.

The Foundation at a Glance

Tunxis Community College Foundation and Advisory Board, established in 1970, is a  501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization  led by a highly dedicated and talented volunteer Board of Directors. The Foundation develops resources and creates partnerships to support the students, programs and services of Tunxis Community College. The Foundation encourages support from individualsbusinessescorporations and other foundations. Fundraising has supplemented state funding and tuition revenue to increase educational access, sustain instructional quality and improve the quality of life of the college’s service region.

The College at a Glance

Tunxis Community College was chartered by the State of Connecticut in 1969 to serve the Bristol-New Britain and Farmington Valley areas. It first opened for classes in October 1970 with 494 students; today nearly 12,000 full- and part-time students attend the College each academic year enrolled in credit and continuing education classes. Yet Tunxis is still small enough to offer students individual attention. Since the first graduation in 1972, more than 8,000 persons have received an associate’s degree or a certificate from the College.

Advisory Board

Board members apply their skills and experiences by volunteering on one or more of the Foundation’s committees; the Executive Committee, Finance Committee, Scholarship Committee, Board Development Committee, Donor Engagement Committee, Audit Committee and Marketing Committee.
