Audubon Reincarnate

“Audubon Reincarnate,” an exhibition of graphic illustrations by Don Carter under the fine art pseudonym Edgar Allan Slothman, will be on display in the Wallace Barnes and Barbara Hackman Franklin Art Gallery January 24-February 21

Don Carter is a creative director, designer and illustrator with more than 30 years of experience designing and art directing for Connecticut ad agencies. For the past 16 years, he has been a creative director with Adams & Knight in Avon. The illustrator of seven picture books for children, Carter has also created two Disney animated short-form series, “Happy Monster Band” and “Dance-A-Lot-Robot.” He has received awards for art direction, design and copywriting from organizations such as Boston’s Hatch awards, New York’s ADC, The One Show, Clio Awards, The Effie’s, Ad Club of CT and CADC. In 2017, he was inducted into the Connecticut Art Director’s Hall of Fame.

2014 Economic Conference Success!

economic conferenceToday’s “What Connecticut Can Do to Begin Growing” 2014 Economic Conference was a success! A special thank you to James C. Smith and Herbert Browne IV for speaking to our guests comprising of student’s, sponsors, board members and community leaders. The Tunxis Community College Foundation prides itself in its 43rd year of service to the College. This conference is one of our primary fundraising programs which along with other special events and community outreach raises funds that provide:

  • Annual scholarships totaling over $50,000 to Tunxis students
  • Support to college community service projects to expand student and faculty member academic experiences
  • Student emergency aid
  • Arts and cultural programs
  • Funding for the purchase of equipment, furnishings and computers
  • Support for the Veteran’s OASIS
  • Other priority needs as identified by the College and Foundation
