The Housing Authority of the City of Bristol (BHA) gifted $50,000 to establish five $1,000 scholarships per year for a period of ten years. The announcement came at the end of the Networking Breakfast on November 12. Students can apply and each recipient shall be a resident of the Housing Authority of the City of Bristol who has financial need and has shown meritorious work, academically and in the community.
Helen G. Sneed, Executive Director of the Tunxis Foundation was thrilled. Sneed said, “I admire and thank the Bristol Housing Authority for supporting the Tunxis Community College Foundation and being true to its mission. A college degree is both an individual and societal benefit. A benefit that lives beyond the life of the student and the donor. I’m looking forward to meeting the first five $1,000 scholarship recipients this May.”

While much has changed since 1970, our founding commitment to help students access education and develop the tools they need to succeed remains the same. In addition to funding scholarships, we have expanded our support to include special learning projects, the Arts and our Veterans. We now reach far beyond the Farmington Valley into well over 15 towns and cities throughout Connecticut. Today and into the future our students live, work and play where you do business.
Please join us on November 12th and help us celebrate our 45 year history of opening doors to student success!
